Fatal accident claims life

Wednesday, December 12, 2007
A fatal accident involving a truck and two other vehicles, yesterday, reportedly claimed the life of one Jim Jobe, a taxi driver and resident of Wellingara along the Traffic Lights - Senegambia Highway.

The late Jim Jobe, who was in a Mercedes Benz 190,  was reportedly pronounced dead at the Bakau Health Centre. Yusuf Aziz, who was driving a Mazda Sport was also reported to have sustained an injury to the eye, whilst one Naffisatiou Colley, a passenger was reported to have sustained injuries.

The truck driver, Abdoulie Ndure of Fajikunda, is said  to be under police custody helping them in their investigations.

Narrating the sad event to the Daily Observer, Sergeant 199 Kebba Camara of the Kairaba Police Station, explained that the truck, which was heading to Kotu from the traffic lights, totally abandoned its lane on the right and rolled on to the Mercedez Benz on the left.

He then added that the Mazda Sport car which was behind the Benz also forcefully hit the vehicle thereby causing more harm. Both vehicles according to him are currently at the Kairaba Police Station. Sergeant Camara then advised the general public, especially drivers, to be mindful when driving on busy highways.

It could be recalled that a similar accident involving Lawyer Mai Fatty also occurred on the same highway a few months ago.
