Disabled get S/K West Ramadan gift

Tuesday, October 02, 2007

As part of a series of donations to Muslims in this holy month of Ramadan, Serrekunda West Constituency on Saturday September 29, distributed sugar to various disabled groups in the Kanifing Municipal Council.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Alhagie Bakary E Jammeh, APRC Chairman for Serekunda West Constituency, told the beneficiaries that the sugar was President Jammeh's special Ramadan gift, which was distributed to all the Regions in the country.

According to him, the gift is for every Muslim in the country, irrespective of their political affiliations. He added that members of Serrekunda West Constiteuncy, deemed it very necessary to also assist the disabled persons, who find it very difficult to do things for themselves, unless they are blessed by others.

Mr Jammeh, however, reaffirmed the constituency's commitment to the APRC party, adding that they will continue to rally behind President Jammeh and support him for the good gesture.

Momodou Bah, a beneficiary, also reaffirmed their continuous support for the APRC party and President Jammeh for his benevolent support in this holy month.

Isatou Ann, Secretary- General of the Association of Disables Advancement, also highlighted similar sentiments.

She described the day as happy. "We as disabled persons cannot get anything for ourselves, unless people bless us. So, today is another blessed day, thanks to the President", she concluded.
