Editor,

I write to express my dismay over the way you responded to an article (Daily Observer, 02/01/08) written by one Abdousalam Touray, in the USA with the above caption.

Mr Touray wrote: "who is the old man holding President Jammeh's hand on your web site?" And the editor replied: "You are an insult to the people of Bajakunda  village if you don't know who the old man is!"

Mr Abdousalam of Bajakunda village (now resident in the USA) was merely asking a question. He did only want to know who the old man on the Daily Observer web site is. I am a regular reader of the Daily Observer and used to enjoy Dida's articles.

Editors note:

Saidou, you took the "insult" joke out of context! It was meant purely as a joke to Mr Touray in the USA. If he or you were hurt, we sincerely apologise.  Dida promises more articles once the MD's tasks get less demanding.
