The Gambia Armed Forces FC and the Division One newcomers, Samger, have started their 2008 league campaign with a narrow, but hard-fought wins over their respective opponents, on Sunday.

Abdou Darboe's sixty-forth minute brace helped Armed Forces beat Sea View 1-0 in a thrilling encounter at Serrekunda West Mini-stadium. The setback saw coach Alagie Sarr started his Hotel Club sting with a defeat.

Elsewhere at Serrekunda East Mini-stadium, Bakau United fell prey to Samger after a 0-1 defeat. Forward Haruna Jammeh's sixty-fifth minute goal separated the two sides throughout the regulation time.

The Week One fixtures will resume today with Hawks locking horns with Interior FC at the Sea View field.

On Wednesday, Real de Banjul will hope to put behind their last weekend Super Cup defeat by Ports Authority when they take on Gamtel at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium. The same day will see Africell/Sait Matty square-up against Gambia Ports Authority at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium.
