LK Boyz prevail in basketball final

africa » gambia » serrekunda
Monday, March 10, 2008
LK Boyz  beat SK East  53 - 52  in a keen contested replay final of the late Pa Modou Sarr Memorial basketball tournament at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium on Saturday, to land their third consecutive title.

The memorial final was replayed over the weekend after a stalemate score in the two sides' first meeting.

Handing over the winner prize, Muhammed Loum, a Quaranic teacher at Sheikh Mass Kah Senior Secondary School, expressed delight at way the tournament was conducted. He said the annual competition will not help people remember the deceased, but also create unity among the youths.

Dawda Sarr, father of the deceased, commended all the teams that participated in the tournament. He also hailed Abdoulie Secka led-organising committee for a job well done.

Saturday's final was graced by scores of basketball enthusiasts.
