Julakay: opposition will lose deposit in WR

africa » gambia » western region
Monday, January 14, 2008
Ansuman Marena alias Julakay, APRC campaign manager for Western Region in the forth coming local government elections slated for January 24, 2008, has said that the opposition candidates in the six contesting wards in Western Region will lose their deposit.

The outspoken Gambian business tycoon, in an interview with the Daily Observer on Saturday, said 18 APRC wards went unopposed. ."This is a clear manifestation that the pendulum will swing in favour of the APRC come January 24. Today, the only living reality in the political arena is the APRC.

It is utterly senseless for the opposition to fight a lost battle. To them, it will be like labour lost, energy wasted and no work done and from the reaction of the electorates in these wards I have no doubt that we will crush the opposition," he said.

Commenting on the emergence of the so called independent candidates, Julakay urged them to come back to the ruling APRC before it is too late. On his political tactics to dislodge the opposition in Western Region, the savvy APRC campaign manager said the world will be a living witness to it shortly.
