3 'fraudsters' get D250,000 bail bond

The Kanifing Magistrates Court presided over by Magistrate Sainabou Wadda-Ceesay yesterday granted bail to Modou Kujabi, Obina Nwafor and Ikeechicwleu Eguelam in the sum of D250,000.

 The trio, who had earlier appeared before the court, pleaded not guilty to two counts of conspiracy to defraud and obtaining money by false pretense.

According to the particulars of the offense, the three, on 16 October 2008, Kanifing Municipality conspired to obtain two hundred and thirty-four thousand dalasis (D234,000) from Lagie Marega in exchange for twelve stones which they knew to be fake precious stones.

Magistrate Sainabou Wadda in her ruling, noted that the offense is a bailable one.  She then granted them bail in the sum of D250,000 with two Gambian sureties.
