Alleged Drug Peddlers Trial Progresses

Momodou Barrow a narcotic officer attached to the Manjai Police Station on Wednesday testified gave evidence as the 2nd Prosecution Witness in the ongoing drug trial involving  Essa Sowe at Bundung Magistrate Court presided by Magistrate Pa Modou Njie.

PW2 in his testimony told the court that he could clearly remember on the 25th March when he was assigned by his boss Pa Omar Jarju to take the accused person to Banjul at the weigh and measures office.

He narrated that upon arrival the suspected substance was weighed and measured in the presence of the accused person which weighted+ 2kg and 8grams and that a certificate was issued, signed by the officer in charged and he (PW2) also signed the certificate and the accused as well.

According to him only 2 of them took the accused to the Banjul and that he only did what he was assigned to do, when he was asked if he can clearly remember the certificate that was issued to them he replied in the affirmative.

The said document was identified by the witness and further tendered in evidence by the prosecution and admitted and marked as exhibit A1.

The accused person Essa Sowe is charged with being in possession of 2kg 80g of cannabis sativa  on the 5th March at Wulingkamma for the purpose of drug trafficking.

The case was adjourned to Wednesday 7th December 2016 for continuation.
