In Babylon case Prosecution, defence urged to expedite the caseThursday, April 23, 2009 The presiding magistrate in the on going Babylon case Pa Harry Jammeh has urged the prosecution and defence to expedite the case pointing out that the accused persons are remanded Magistrate Jammeh's call came following a brief argument between the prosecution led by Lawyer Buba Bojang and the defence counsel Antuman Gaye yesterday Thursday 23, April. Magistrate Jammeh's reaction came following a bitter debate over the testimony of Sheikh Shona a witness of the prosecutio. The defence counsel Antuman Gaye wanted to examine Sheikh Shona on what he had earlier on said before the then presiding magistrate Edrisa Mbay. The state prosecutor Buba Bojang on the other hand argued that it was not proper for counsel to ask the witness on what he had earlier on said. Counsel Bojang said added that the charges at that time were substituted by a new one, thus what the witness said on that file has noting to do with what is before the court. But Antuman Gaye, argued that what the witness said when the case was in the hands of the Police is still relevance, hence they are the same accused persons before the court. At that juncture the magistrate adjourned the case to 11& 12 May, respectively and urged both sides to try and expedite the case pointing out that the accused persons are remasnded.
