Belgian Friends of The Gambia’s (BFoTG), a charity based in Belgium, is set to distribute items worth over one million dalasis to nine institutions within Kanifing Municipality (KM) and the West Coast Region (WCR).
This information was revealed to the Daily Observer recently by the Chairman of the Belgian Friends of The Gambia (BFoTG), Patrick De Vos during the offloading of 40-foot container in Kololi.
According to him, the items are meant for their sponsored students in The Gambia.
De Vos stated that 375 students within the above mentioned regions are to benefit from his charity’s kind gesture ranging from lower basic to senior secondary schools.
He said some the items in the consignment consist of learning materials, clothing , computers, desktops, laptops, agricultural items, medicines, renovation of school roof at Jambangjelly Nursery School and distribution of over 800 bags of rice to their sponsors students.
“We will inspect both our computer labs and garden projects at Bakoteh Annex, Bakoteh Upper Basic, Bakoteh Proper Lower Basic Schools, Jambanjelly Nursery school and we will also visit to Widdar Nursery School in Kotu,”he stated.
Schools to benefit from the Danish charity’s gesture are: Siffoe Lower Basic School, Jambangjelly Nursery School, New Yundum Lower Basic School, New Yundum Health Center and Widdar Nursery School, all in the West Coast Region, while in the Kanifing Municipality, the schools include; Nyodema Nursery School, Bakoteh Annex Lower Basic School, Bakoteh Proper Lower Basic School, Bakoteh Upper Basic School.
