The fraud trial against Muhammed Kebbeh and Alhagie Ass John of Universal Trading Company Tuesday suffered another setback at the Banjul Magistrates’ Court after the court was informed that the prosecutor handling the case was sick.
The case, before Magistrate Elizabeth Dun, was set for continuation of cross-examination of the second defence witness Alieu Ceesay, a bailiff at the High Court.
When the case was called yesterday, the court was informed that Lamin Jarju, the state counsel handling the case was sick and had gone to hospital for medical treatment.
With both accused persons and their attorney lawyer SM Tambedou present, the case was adjourned to 10th October 2016 for continuation of hearing.
The accused persons are charged with two counts of obtaining money by false pretence and conspiracy to defraud, contrary to the laws of The Gambia.
