CID Officer Testifies in Fraud Trial




Detective Sergeant Babucarr Trawally, a police officer attached to the Latrikunda Police Post Criminal Investigation Unit (CID) last Wednesday testified as the second prosecution witness in a fraud trial involving one Alpha Bah, before Magistrate Sowe of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court. 

In his testimony, the witness told the court that while on duty on August 18th 2016, an officer from Bakoteh Police Station brought both the accused person and complainant to their office for investigation.

According to him, the complainant (Yusupha Bojang) was interviewed and he disclosed that the accused used supernatural means on him to obtain his money and properties such as his bag and three mobile phones.

He said the accused was also interrogated and he confessed that he did the act together with one Abdourahman Trawally, now at large. “The accused further confessed that he obtained D12, 000 with one mobile phone from the complainant. If there is any more missing property of the complainant, then it must be with his colleague Abdourahman Trawally,” the witness said.

He however clarified that no amount of money was recovered from the accused during the investigation, saying after the investigation, he (witness) instructed one of the officers to take the accused person’s statement and charge him accordingly.
