Magistrate Blessed of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court yesterday granted bail to one Momodou Jallow following his denial of a one count charge of being in possession of 16g of Cannabis Sativa; a prohibited drug.
The magistrate granted the bail in the sum of D50, 000 with a Gambian surety who must swear to an affidavit of means and be residing within the jurisdiction of the court.
Prosecutors alleged that Jallow was found in possession of 16g of Cannabis sativa on 22nd June, 2016 at Dingirai village in the Lower River Region.
The presiding magistrate questioned the prosecution why the incident that took place in the Lower River Region is being prosecuted at the Kanifing Magistrate Court but the prosecuting officer Jawla said they prosecute cases as assigned to them.
The case is adjourned to 10th November for hearing.
