A man who denied allegation of stealing items worth over one million Dalasi has been granted bail in the sum of two million Dalasis with two Gambian sureties, by Principal Magistrate Hilary Abeke of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court.
Prosecution accused Pa Modou Gaye of stealing from one Samir Boriji of Fajara 32 different items; including gold and diamond rings, ear rings, chains, cash and an Iphone, which sum up to D1, 367, 425.
Magistrate Abeke said Gaye’s sureties should deposit title deeds duly registered by Gambian authorities and worth the bail sum. Gaye had however pleaded to the court to review the bail sum, saying his family members cannot afford the amount.
His request was not granted by the court leading to the adjournment of the case for the trial to commence with prosecution witnesses and for Gaye to start defending himself or through a lawyer. The case is adjourned to 24th October for hearing.
