A diver who is defending himself in a single count charge of rash and negligent act leading to death was on Thursday granted a D75, 000 bail by Magistrate Isatou Janneh of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court.
The magistrate ordered Matarr Baldeh to provide two Gambians as sureties who must deposit their national identification cards to the court and swear to an affidavit of means. She also ordered for the accused person to be present in court on every sitting.
Matarr is accused of driving a vehicle with registration number: BJL 3105 H in a rash and negligent manner leading to the death of one Bekai Janneh on or about 12th October 2016 at Kitty village. He denied the charge.
Sergeant 2294 Jammeh, the prosecuting officer, applied for an adjournment of the matter, saying that would enable him to take the file to the Attorney General’s chamber for legal advice. His application was granted and the case is adjourned to 14th November 2016 for hearing.
