Eddy: Just call me Mr Winter

europe
Friday, February 08, 2008
After picking up the League One Player of the Month Award for January 2008, Gambia and Walsall talismanic forward, Edrissa Sonko, is considering a change of nickname.  The popular winger is affectionately known as 'Mr Sunshine' - a nickname he was given by supporters of his previous club Roda JC in Holland. The Roda fans gave him the name as the Gambian International seemed to perform better when the sun was shining.

However, when you consider the conditions at away games such as Yeovil and Bristol Rovers, a more apt nickname may well 'Mr. Winter'!  "This period has been in the winter period," Sonko said.

"It's been very cold and stormy. It has rained a lot too but it has been a great period for me. The fans might call me Mr. Winter now but as long as I'm playing well, it can rain all the time!

"Seriously though, I know my form dipped a little before Christmas but that happens to all players. That's football. Sometimes your form goes down and you have to work hard to get it back up. I have done that and I hope everything continues like this." he said.
