First Lady Dedicates Award to Gambian Women

The First Lady of the Islamic Republic of The Gambia, Her Excellency Madam Zineb Yahya Jammeh, has dedicated the National Honour conferred on her to Gambian women.

She was among the over seven hundred Gambians conferred the Honours by the government under the leadership of His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya AJJ Jammeh Babili Mansa.

The awardees were recognised for their immense contributions and roles they continue to play in the country’s development since the advent of the July 22nd Revolution 22 years ago.

The awardees have been registering their appreciation for development. The First Lady posted on her Facebook Timeline to express delight at the development.

“I am deeply honoured and gratified to receive an Award of Merit amongst 700 other recipients from His Excellency the President, and APRC Party Chairman. The Award renews our collective and continuous resolve to uplift the lives and livelihoods of Gambians. I therefore dedicate this prestigious Award to the women and children of The Gambia,” she posted.

It could be recalled that on August 20, 2016, over one thousand people gathered at the State House grounds in Banjul to witness the presentation of awards and certificates of merit to over seven hundred personalities in The Gambia and beyond.
