The chairman of the ruling APRC Branch in the United Kingdom (UK), Ibrahim Manneh said the huge turnout at APRC meetings symbolises that Gambians love the President and chairman of the APRC party, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Dr Alhaji Yahya AJJ Jammeh, Babili Mansa.
In an interview with the Daily Observer, Manneh, who is in the country with his executive committee members from the Diaspora said President Jammeh is going to sweep the polls next Thursday.
“The APRC UK Branch was established some months ago starting with the GambiaOneRadio that advocates for peace in the Diaspora and basically carrying most accurate information about The Gambia by informing people abroad as to the development project taking place in The Gambia,” Manneh told the Daily Observer.
The Branch, he went on, is trying its best to portray Gambia’s good image in the Diaspora. Since inception some months back, Manneh said, the Branch is moving from strength to strength within the United Kingdom.
As to what motivates them to leave behind all their busy schedules to join in the ruling party’s campaign trail, Manneh said they deemed it necessary to come home and participate in the campaign process of their party (APRC). “Most of us have voters cards and we are here to campaign and vote as well for President Jammeh,” he affirmed.
“So far so good with what I have seen since we arrived people are in love and support of the President and the APRC party simply because they have seen the positive changes brought in by the Jammeh administration. I am convinced that Gambians will vote massively for APRC.”
He used the interview to urge on Gambians residing abroad to advocate and preserve the peace and security the country is known for. “There cannot be any development in the absence of peace and security.”
As to how is it like trying to promote the ideas and agendas of President Jammeh and his government in the Diaspora, Manneh said it is going on fine as many have now differentiate between the truth and false.
He finally thanked all those who are supporting the Branch such as protocol and welfare officer Pierre Minteh at the Gambian Embassy in US, Samsudeen Sarr of the United Nations, Ambassador Sheikh Omar Faye in US, and Momodou Badgie in Turkey who he said are all keen and regular listeners of the GambiOneRadio.
