Salieu Sarr and Bubacarr Jammeh, two senior watchmen at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, Wednesday stood face-to-face in court as Jammeh testified against Sarr in a theft allegation case that occurred at the said court premises.
Jammeh, a day shift watchman testified against Sarr, who work in the night shift and standing the allegation trial of breaking into a building with intent to commit a felony. Sarr had denied responsibility of the allegation.
According to the prosecution, the theft occurred on 26th June 2016 when the office of the court’s cahier was allegedly broken into with its safe partly destroyed.
Testifying before Magistrate Bojang, the witness told the court that the cahier, Lamin Darboe informed him of the breaking and he went to the scene. He said upon arrival at the scene, he observed that the office table and the safe were damaged but the door was close and in order.
“I then told Lamin Darboe, the cahier that Salieu Sarr was on night shift at the time of the incident. I, Sarr and Darboe were later escorted to the Ebo Town police post and later to the Kanifing police station for interrogation”.
The case wis adjourned to 7th December for cross-examination.
