The people of Kiang West have reaffirmed their support to President Jammeh and expressed optimism that in the December 1 presidential election he would be given another mandate.
This commitment was made at a politic rally organised by the District’s APRC Committee and the Kiang West Youth Development Organisation in Jali village on Friday. The meeting was organised to return thanks and appreciation to President Jammeh for constructing the Sankandi-Karantaba feeder road.
Speaking at the rally, the APRC constituency mobiliser for Kiang West, Jerreh Njie, said the people of the area have turned their back on the opposition since 2011. He refuted claims that the people of Kiang West had snubbed the new chief of the area while on a familiarisation tour in the District. He stressed that the new chief and the National Assembly member for the area and others conducted the tour successfully.
Njie stressed that the strength of the APRC party in Kiang West is stronger today than before, noting that President Jammeh has delivered to the people of the area.
For his part, retired army captain, Ebrima Kambi said President Jammeh will not only win the December 1 presidential election in Kiang West, but will win overwhelmingly to reaasure Gambians that hard work pays.
“Kiang West had rallied behind the opposition for 17 years and we have not realised any development in our area but when we gave our support to President Jammeh, he constructed our main feeder road without hesitation,” Kambi stressed. He further described President Jammeh as a role model within Africa and vowed that he is fully optimistic of his win in the area.
The National Assembly member for the area, Hon. Menata Njie thanked the people of Kiang West for turning their back on the opposition, adding that under President Jammeh’s government more development opportunities are ahead for the area.
“We are all one family, so politics should not be the cause of our personal problems despite the fact that politics is part of our everyday life. For us as natives of Kiang West, we are 100% optimistic that President Jammeh will win in our area,” she assured party militants.
She urged the people of the area to vote for President Jammeh massively in the December polls, stressing that their vote is their weapon.
The liaison officer attached to the Lower River Region, who doubles as the minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Hon. Abdou Colley expressed his gratitude to the people of Kiang West for their large turnout. He commended the people of the area for their loyalty to President Jammeh and the APRC party, adding that Kiang West people’s patience and good faith will catapult them to greater heights.
Minister Colley noted that the future of the people of the area in terms of both road infrastructure and other communication outlets is very bright under President Jammeh’s government. He therefore enjoined them to continue to rally behind President Jammeh for their own good.
Aja Mama Colley advised the women folk to cast their votes for President Jammeh in the election because as she stated, he is the only leader who can move Kiang West forward. She also urged them to ensure that President Jammeh wins convincingly and thanked the APRC committee and Kiang West Youth Development Association for organising such an important rally in the area.
The new chief of Kiang West, Alhaji Momodou Njie; councillor Banta Ward, Alhaji Jammeh; Aja Mariama Samateh; Aja Sabel Sanyang; Aja Sunkary Sanyang; and Karamo Drammeh all described President Jammeh as a transformational leader.
