The Kombo North Federation (KNF) affiliated to ChildFund The Gambia recently awarded 22 ex-board members after they successfully completed three-year tenure of serving in the board of the Federation.
The awardees were presented certificates of appreciation at a ceremony held at KNF office in Banjulinding, Kombo North.
Speaking at the presentation, the Manager of KNF, Alieu Mendy, described the event as yet another milestone in the history of the Federation, being the first time the Federation has awarded certificates to ex-board members as a token of appreciation.
He noted that the ex-board members are worth commending and the only way to show that is to award them certificates.
He thus called on the new board members to emulate the ex-board members, saying one of their major challenges over the years has been that beneficiaries, who are the vulnerable children, are not corresponding effectively with regards to the sponsorship programme.
Mendy therefore urged the beneficiaries to be corresponding, by writing appreciation letters or acknowledgement of support to their sponsors, as that will help the country and the Federation in particular to garner more support from them.
He pointed out that parents need to know that the sustainability of the sponsorship programme is based on regular or constant communication with the sponsors.
Ebou Faal, the outgoing KNF chairman expressed delight to serve this Federation to the best of his ability.
He also thanked the management and staff of the Federation for their support and cooperation.
Yaya Manneh, the incoming board chairman, expressed delight over the forum, noting that the award ceremony is a sign of motivation, encouragement and support.
He promised to work with the staff of the Federation in a bid to register more achievements.
