The National Association of Co-operative Credit Union of The Gambia (NACCUG) on Saturday celebrated the International Credit Union Day on the theme “Authentic Difference”.
The celebration, which was held at the Brikama Area Council, started with a March pass by members of NACCUG from The Gambia College to Brikama Area Council.
Speaking at the occasion, the chairman of the board of NACCUB, Edrissa Bojang underscored the importance of credit union in the socio-economic development of any nation, saying in the last decade, the union played a huge role in the development of agriculture, health and education among a host of other sectors.
The registrar of NACCUG, Aba Sankareh stressed the need for people to join the union, noting that the theme of this year’s event is a catalyst in alleviating poverty.
Siaka Bah, who represented the Governor of Central Bank was among the speakers and he assured the union of Central Bank’s support at all times.
The Chief Executive Officer of BAC, Mam Sait Jallow and the Deputy Governor of the West Coast Region, Musa Suso, were among the dignitaries, who graced the occasion.
