Nianija District Gets New Chief




Sheikh Dawda Yoke, a 48-year-old has been appointed as the new chief of Nianija District in the Central River Region. He replaces Alasan Davis Cham, who was earlier relieved of his duties.

Until his appointment as the district chief of the District, Chief Yoke has been an erudite Islamic scholar in the region.

Confirming his latest assignment to the Daily Observer, Sheikh Dawda Yoke said he received his appointment letter on the 10th of October 2016 through the Office of the Governor.

He promised to work diligently to maintain peace, unity and cooperation among his people, noting that without these there won’t be any meaningful development. He further assured his unflinching support to President Jammeh and the APRC party.

The new chief called on his people to rally behind the President and the party and advised his people to put aside their individual differences and reconcile in the interest of peace.

The regional governor, Alhaji Omar Khan congratulated Sheikh Dawda Yoke for the appointment and described him as a hard working and dedicated person.

He urged the newly appointed chief to strengthen the unity and cooperation among his people, while imploring the people of Nianija to cement their support for President Jammeh.
