On the Gambian Hospitality

The Banjul International Airport was recently ranked number one as the Most Passenger Friendly Airport in Africa ahead of four other countries by a Pan African Committee of Travel Professionals and Experts from 15 African countries.

This, according to a list published on ATQnews.com, a member of Travel Media Group, the nominees for the various category, stated that the award for this category is self explanatory and doesn’t go to the biggest or grandest airport but to that airport that provides the best travel experience to passengers.

This is indeed very positive news for The Gambia but hardly a surprise. The Gambia is known for its hospitality throughout the world and thus the name ‘The Smiling Coast of Africa.’ The country is one of the most friendly environments you would find anywhere on the world.

The Gambia is known for its warmth, genuine friendliness and hospitality of its people and this has and continues to contribute immensely to the development of the tourism sector of the country. Because of the peaceful and welcoming nature of Gambians, today tourism is not only an activity in the country, but a way of life, a haven of peace and tranquility.

The Gambia has earned, and rightly so, itself as one of the most sought-after holiday destinations for tourists from across the world, Europe in general. This growing popularity can be attributed to a combination of endless sunshine, fabulous beaches, a rich culture, unique traditions, and a very safe environment. To a large extent as well, it is also down to the wonderful hospitality and always smiling faces showed to strangers and this starts at the Banjul International Airport to every nook and cranny of this country.

We therefore, thank the efforts of the Pan African Committee of Travel Professionals and Experts for this well-deserved award.
