The Executive Director of the First Lady’s Operation Save the Children Foundation (OSCF), Fatou Mass Jobe-Njie, has called on Gambians to support the Foundation’s upcoming grand fundraising gala dinner slated for 26th October at the State House Gardens.
“What I expect from Gambians is just the usual support because we [OSCF] hosted our first fundraising event in January and everybody came out to support and it was a resounding success. Part of the funds that were derived from that event was used to treat the seven children with congenital heart disease to Israel and do a lot more for Gambian children and women,” she told the Office of the First Lady’s press corp.
Madam Mass Jobe-Njie is hopeful that all the potential partners of the Foundation would come on board to support the event, which proceeds would be used to expand the maternity and paediatric wards at the Serrekunda General Hospital in Kanifing for the comfortability of patients.
According to her, letters were sent out to both local and international partners, disclosing that five companies (at the time of the interview) had confirmed their participation and more were expected.
“Her Excellency the First Lady is committed to complementing the efforts of the Government in creating the conducive environment that can meet the needs and aspirations of the children,” she told the press corp.
