Police Officer Testifies in Negligent Driving Case

Alfusainy Koteh, a police officer attached to Basse Police Station, Monday testified in a single count charge trial of one Bunja Sanyang before Magistrate Isatou Janneh at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court.

In his testimony, the witness told the court that he was at Yundum Police Station on 27th August 2015 when he received a phone call reporting an accident at Banjulinding main junction.

He said by the time he reached the scene, the victim had been taken to the Banjulinding Health Centre. He said he then returned to the police station to bring the tapeline for measurement.

The witness said after the measurement, he drew a sketch plan of the accident scene.  He said he made a phone call to Banjulinding Health Centre to find out how the victim was doing but he was told that victim was referred to Serrekunda Hospital.

The police officer said the accused person was taken, together with his car, to Yundum Police Station, where a statement was obtained from him and read to him in a language he understood.

The police prosecutor, sub-Inspector Conteh applied to tender the sketch plan in evidence as exhibit.

The magistrate granted his application and it was marked as exhibit 2.

The case is adjourned to September 1.
