One Amadou Ceesay, a police officer attached to serious crime unit of Sukuta police station, recently testified as third prosecution witness in an alleged theft case involving Samba Secka before Magistrate Pa Modou Njie at the Bundung Magistrates’ Court.
Secka is accused of stealing a mini laptop valued; D4, 000, Asus Tablet valued; D15, 000 and a simple techno mobile phone valued; D1, 500 on 28th May 2016 from one Mariama B Bah.
In his testimony, the witness told the court that he was on duty on 28th May, 2016 when he was handed a case file concerning the complainant (Mariama Bah). He said the complainant revealed to him that an unknown person broke into her house and took away her laptop, a tablet and a simple Techno Phone.
The witness said he suggest to the complainant that they should go to Africell to lodge complaint there so that the techno phone can be recovered, which she complied.
He said when they went to Africell, a printout was given to them that reveal that the said phone was with one Ali Sowe, who was later confronted and he revealed that the phone was sold to him by the accused person but he also sold the same phone to another person.
The accused had pleaded to the complainant to give him time to pay other lost items which was all amounted to D20, 500, which they came to a conclusion that the accused will pay a monthly instalment of D5, 000s.
The witness said he prepared an agreement document between the complainant and the accused which, him (witness) and both of them signed. He said after signing the agreement, the accused person failed to pay the instalment as agreed which compelled the complainant to lodge a complaint to police.
The matter was adjourned to 28th November for continuation.
