The Deputy Governor of West Coast Region, Musa B. Suso, in observance of transparency and probity, as the mantra of the July 22nd Revolution, on Saturday officially handed over D70,000 cash donated by President Jammeh to the spouses and other relatives of the seven pilgrims from West Coast Region that the President sent to perform the Hajj in Mecca.
The handing over came barely 48 hours after President Jammeh made a handsome donation of D10, 000 to each of the families of the pilgrims to buy rams to observe Eidul Adha better known in The Gambia as Tobaski. The same package was given to all the other Presidential sponsored pilgrims from the other regions of the country.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Governor Suso said President Jammeh has supported the pilgrims to perform what he described as one of the most important pillars of Islam. He urged the families to strictly adhere to the presidential directive in providing ram to their families during the festive period. He urged the recipients to pray for the President to enable him to further develop the country as a paradise on earth.
DG Suso further described President Jammeh as an inspirational leader with a big heart to support Gambians and non-Gambians alike and urged the relatives of the pilgrims to be steadfast in their support to the Gambian leader in the December Polls. He reminded his audience that the President has registered insurmountable and unprecedented development in all sectors and it is only fair and prudent for every Gambian to return the favour by voting massively for him in the December Polls for the greater good of the country.
Speaking in a sideline interview, Deputy Governor Suso said the main preoccupation of the Region, which also serves as the birth place of the President, is to increase the percentage vote cast in the 2016 Presidential Election in WCR. The former Kombo North parliamentarian also stated that come December 2, the West Coast Region would triumphantly storm the nation’s capital as a mark of yet another electoral success in a landslide victory for Professor Jammeh and the great APRC party.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Madam Mai Jarju-Bojang, spouse of the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Abdoulie Bojang, thanked Professor Jammeh for what she described as a heartwarming and a king-size surprise to their families. She called on the electorates to use the December Polls as a payback time to President Jammeh because of his unparalleled and groundbreaking development initiatives for The Gambia and for humanity.
The recipients were; Speaker Bojang of Foni Kansala, Councillor Ajaratou Ida Ndure of Kombo South, Ajaratou Fatou Darbo of Kombo Central, Hon. Alhaji Pa Lamin Jatta of Kombo North, Ajaratou Kaddy Sanneh of Foni Bondali, Alhaji Bakary Saibou Sanneh of Foni Bintang and Chairperson of the Brikama Area Council, Ajaratou Kaddy Jammeh of Kombo East.
The ceremony was also attended by the Paramount Chief of The Gambia, Alhaji Demba Sanyang, Hon. Matarr Kujabi, APRC Divisional Mobiliser Ebrima Solo Marreh and members of the WCR APRC Executive Committee, amongst others.
