Prosecution’s Absence Delays Ex-Masanneh Ceesay Fishing ED’s trial

The ongoing criminal trial involving the IGP against Sainabou Ngum the former Executive Director of Masanneh Ceesay Fish and Vegetable Enterprise on Wednesday failed to proceed before Principal Magistrate Omar Cham of the Banjul Magistrates’ Court due to the absence of the actual prosecuting officer Sub Inspector Y Njie.

The case that was slated for accused person to give her defense testimony couldn’t progress on the ground the actual prosecuting officer was attending a workshop.

Reader would recall that the accused person is standing trial on a single count for willfully disobeying the inspection procedure of exportation and failing to acquire health certificate from the food Safety and Quality Authority for two containers of fish destined for Holland and China.

It could be recall also that that the prosecution called several witnesses and tendered several exhibits in a bid to proof their case while the defence on the other hand opted to address the court on a no case to answer submission which was overruled by the court warranting the accused to enter her defence.

The case was adjourned to 28th September 2016.
