Ebrima Ceesay, a resident of Manduar Village in Kombo Central last Wednesday testified as the Forth Prosecution Witness (PW4) in an assault trial against one Mumine Camara before Magistrate Isatou Janneh of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court.
Mumine is alleged to have wilfully and unlawfully assaulted one Alieu Ceesay by stabbing him with a knife on his head causing him actual bodily harm on or about 12th June, 2016 at Manduarr Village in Kombo Central.
In his testimony, Ceesay told the court that at around 11:30 pm on 12th June 2016, he heard his brother (complainant) shouting for help and when he went to him, he found him bleeding.
He said the complainant told him that the accused person stabbed him on his head with a knife. He said they rushed to the accused person’s house but they could not find him there.
The witness narrated that he then took his vehicle and went to Madina police station to report the matter there and they were escorted by a police officer to the hospital and later returned to the police station where they gave their evidence.
Responding to questions from the accused person during cross-examination, the witness said when they went with the police to look for the accused person at his house they could not find him there, they further searched for him up to one of his friend’s compound. He however maintained that he does not know the name of that friend of the accused person.
The witness said the police officers are his witness that they conducted a search for the accused person but could not find him.
The matter is adjourned to 4th October 2016.
