The secretary general of Panchang Youth Development Association (PYDA) has disclosed that the association will be officially launched on Saturday, 29th October 2016 in Panchang Village, Upper Saloum Constituency, Central River Region (CRR).
Kalipha M.M Mbye, who was speaking in a recent interview with the Daily Observer, disclosed that the aims and objectives of the association are to bring sustainable development in Panchang through self-help development programmes; to assist members increase income and progressively reduce poverty; to promote education, good health, nutrition and clean the environment and to render support to the needy members of the community.
Mbye stated that all the members of PYDA in Kombo under the leadership of the president Madi JB Ceesay, would depart for Panchang Village on Thursday, 27th October 2016.
“As part of the launching activities, the executive and members will engage the village elders and local authorities on the importance of community-driven development initiative,” he said.
SG Mbye added that the theme of the event is “Social and community development, people’s responsibility”, and that the event will be graced by the regional and district authorities of CRR and Upper Saloum.
According to him, they would use the occasion to highlight the association’s development projects, proposals and action plans.
“Furthermore, we have already developed a comprehensive project proposal for the construction of a community youth centre that we want to partner with institutions for the successful realisation of such important initiative in the district.” he added.
Among the activities for the launching is a musical entertainment to be held on Friday, 28th and Saturday 29th October 2016.
PYDA is a community-based organisation registered with the Registrar of Companies on the 22nd March, 2016. Membership is constituted by citizens of Panchang village and beyond.
