The President, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya AJJ Jammeh, Babili Mansa and entourage were yesterday accorded a rousing welcome in the Central River Region (CRR), as he continues his nationwide tour.
The CRR welcome was referred to by many as “the best welcome” ever accorded to President Jammeh in the region.
“I am proud of the people of CRR and I feel so happy when I come to CRR.”
Upon arrival at the ferry crossing point in the administrative capital of CRR, the roads from the ferry harbour were lined up by cheering crowds, including horse riders, scores of school children waving placards. The crowd got bigger as the procession continue and people left everything they were doing to be part of what by all accounts looks like a national parade.
People came out in their numbers not only to say welcome, but also to pay homage to the man that Gambians credited for improving their way of life in the last twenty-two years.
Also present at the ferry crossing point were the elders and scholars of the region mainly from Kunting, who converged to recite the Quran and to also pray for the President, entourage and the country.
