A single count charge of obtaining Gambian passport by false declaration was on Monday levelled against a Sierra Leonean at a Banjul Magistrates’ Court.
Under trial before acting Principal Magistrate Kebba Baldeh, Ebrima Mansaring is alleged to have given false declaration, of which he obtained a Gambian passport with number PC 542038 for one Muhammed Dukureh, on or about 12th October, 2016. He has denied the allegation.
Chief Inspector B Njie, the police prosecuting officer applied for an adjournment of the case, saying the matter is still under investigation.
He said the case involves passport, an important national document, and that findings have revealed that the accused have made three passports, saying if he is granted bail he may continue to do the same act. He also said the alleged documents are still under investigation.
In his ruling, the presiding magistrate said the case is bailable but said he would deny the accused person bail based on what the prosecutor said.
The case is adjourned to Tuesday, 25th October at 2pm.
