Justice O Otaba of the High Court in Banjul has set 6th December, 2016 as the date to deliver ruling on the bail application filed by Sira Wally Ndow-Njai, Momodou O S Badjie and Noah Touray.
The judge’s decision followed the adoption of briefs made by the parties involved in the application.
Lawyer Antouman Gaye, counsel for Madam Njai in adopting the brief filed on behalf of his client, urged the court to accept the arguments and the authority cited in the brief and reply on points of law.
Lawyer L S Camara for Mr Badjie and Mr Touray, while adopting the brief enjoined the court to exercise its discretion in favour of his clients by granting their applications. The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) S H Barkun in adopting his response to the arguments in the brief said the process he filed is his final argument on the application issue and urged the court to refuse the application.
The presiding judge however granted the adoptions and further adjourned the case to 6th December for ruling.
The three are among 10 former government officials who are under trial at the Banjul High Court on economic crime related charges in connection to the Gambia National Petroleum Corporation.
