SLA Youth Summer Camp: Inspired Learning in a Great Environment!

Mr. Momodou Sabally and his wife, Jai Sarr welcomed SLA members and children participating in this year’s Sabally’s Leadership Academy (SLA) Summer Youth Camp in their home at Kerr Serign. The SLA team spent the weekend introducing the children to life skills for success in the joyful atmosphere of a summer camp.

SLA1The free summer camp fully funded by the founder and members, is a platform for the youth to be inspired and to prepare themselves for the increasing opportunities of a Dynamic New World, as stated by the Founder Mr. Momodou Sabally in his keynote speech.

The summer camp, which began at 3:30pm Friday 5th August 2016, has a rich line up lectures and group work based on the following topics: Creativity & Life’s Work Session, lectures on Creative Writing, Yoga & Reflections, Talent Search, Scavenger Hunt, Spelling Bee & Quiz, Motivational Walk.

Hassoum Ceesay of the National Council for Arts and Culture delivered a lecture on “Life as a Historian and Curator” and also “The Stone Circles of The Gambia”.

SLA2Other topics discussed include: Conversation on Climate Change, Communication & Social Skills Through Performing Arts, Fundamentals of Religion and Child Rights. These topics were presented by prominent and influential speakers, such as Director General of The Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS), Jai Sarr, Alieu Bah (Immortal X) Hassoum Ceesay, artiste Barhama Cham and others.
