US Student Inspired by President Jammeh

The Gambian leader has received a letter from one Tim Li, a 14-year-old student of Mineola High School in Long Island, USA, expressing his admiration of the President. According to him, President Jammeh’s hard work inspires him, and his goal is to become a doctor to cure cancer.

The letter from Tim Li reads:

Dear Yahya Abdul – Aziz Jemus Junkung Jammeh,

Hi, my name is Tim Li and I am currently 14 years old. I live in Long Island and I am attending Mineola High School. You are one of my inspirations and I look up to you when I am down. During my free time I read about you and learn how to be successful. You are the President of The Gambia. As a young Army Officer, you took power in a 1994 Military Coup. You were elected as President in 1996, and you were re-elected in 2001, 2006 and 2011. Your hard work has inspired me to go beyond any doctor’s dream. My goal and passion is to become a doctor and go to Harvard University. I want to cure cancer and put an end to it.

Millions of people worldwide have been diagnosed with cancer. Facing the fact that family members have to witness their loved ones dying at a young age is devastating. This has made me the person that I am today and I work very hard to get high grades in order to meet my goals / expectations and setting myself as an inspiration to others.

Hopefully you write back to me with a picture and a signature and enjoy my Chinese calligraphy. Thank you for your reading this and happy New Year.
