Police in the Central River Region have arrested one Fatou Marong, a resident of Fullabantang Village in the Lower Fulladou West District for the death of one Sulayman Wanja.
According to reports reaching the Daily Observer, the deceased, a 42 year-old had a fight with his elder brother’s wife (Marong) and then she stabbed him with a knife on the chest, which led to his untimely death.
At the time of gathering the report, the accused who is also 42, was detained at the Bansang Police Station shortly after the incident, where she is helping police in their investigation to get to the bottom of the case.
The deceased, Sulayman Wanja, was then referred to Bansang Hospital, but died later due to the severity of the wound.
Confirming the story, the CRR Police Commissioner, Pa Lamin Sankareh, said the incident happened on Saturday 12th November 2016.
Quizzed about the circumstances that may have led to the incident, Commissioner Sankareh said he could not verify what exactly transpired between the two and added that their investigation is ongoing.
The CRR Police Chief called on the people to be law-abiding and to always solve their problems through dialogue.
He emphasised that community policing is ongoing and they will continue to sensitise the public on crime and its related issues.
The circumstances behind the incident were not established at the time of going to press, as URR reporter tried all efforts but to no avail.
