Witness Continues Cross-Examination on Criminal Trespass Trial




Lawyer Makaty, the defence attorney of one Musa Jawara last Thursday continued cross-examination of Mai Ceesay, the complainant and prosecution witness in a two-count criminal trespass and assault case before Magistrate Isatou Janneh of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court.

Jawara is alleged to have unlawfully entered the house of one Mai Ceesay with intent to intimidate, insult or annoy her on 17th December 2015 at New Yundum village. He is also alleged to have wilfully and unlawfully assaulted one Ismaila Ceesay on the same day. He has pleaded not guilty to both charges.

During cross-examination by defence counsel Makaty, the witness told the court that she gave D50,000 to the accused person but that it was witnessed by any person . She said she was already married to the accused person when she gave him that money.

The witness said she cannot remember in which month she gave the money to her former husband but said she was pregnant when she was building her house and it was completed after her delivery.

The matter is adjourned to 7th September 2016 for the fourth prosecution witness to testify.
