The communities of Kuntaur Fulla Kunda and Jakaba on Wednesday embarked on the rehabilitation of a feeder road that links them to their rice fields, health facility and the major road.
The rehabilitation of the feeder road is expected to help residents of the satellite villages to have easy access to their fields, health facility and to each other.
Speaking to the Daily Observer on the sidelines of the rehabilitation work, the Chairmen of the Village Development Committees of Kuntaur Fulla Kunda, Kallo Yaffa and Jakaba, Sillah, both assured their readiness in participating in national development, saying that youths play vital roles in national development.
They said the feeder road is full of bumps and refilling those holes would help users ply the road easily. They spoke extensively on the importance of refilling the holes, noting that the road is being used by many villages. They applauded the regional agricultural directorate for supporting them with fuel.
The Alkalolu of the two villages, Alhaji Sulayman Jawo and Morri Jaiteh, both commended the youths for their hard work and patriotism towards national development. They asserted that youth empowerment is placed very high on President Jammeh’s development agenda. They challenged the youths to grab the opportunities and make best use of them.
Describing youths as the backbone of the country, they noted that their participating in nation building will contribute immensely to the socio-economic development of the country. They therefore, advised them to acquire skills in order to be independent.
The two Alkalolu both hailed the District Chief, Alhaji Pierre Bah for providing them with a tractor to transport the gravels.
Among several other speakers at the rehabilitation include Koliba Fofana, Bubacarr Jaiteh and Bakary Kandeh.
