Family of the late Alhaji Banta Camara, Upper River Region’s first ever Divisional Chairman for the AFPRC/APRC has extoled the Gambian leader for remembering his legacy exactly a decade after his death.
Camara, who served in that position for more than ten years, died in 2006 but his efforts are still remembered by His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya AJJ Jammeh, Babili Mansa who lauded him for his loyalty to the Armed Forces Provisional Ruling Council and later the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction. The Gambian leader was speaking at a meeting in Basse during the most recent tour.
Speaking on behalf of the family in a recent interview with the Daily Observer at her Wellingara residence, Bintou Camara, daughter of the late APRC bigwig said: “Let me express on behalf of my family members our sincere gratitude to President Jammeh for demonstrating good leadership in still remembering our loved one. His recent praise of our father is unanimously endorsed and approved by the entire family members.”
Bintou reaffirmed the family’s commitment in ensuring that they follow the footsteps of their father in rallying behind President Jammeh and his APRC party for good. She described President Jammeh as a leader who did not only talk but is committed to his actions, actions that always bring opportunities for the citizens of this country and even non-citizens residing in the country.
Bintou, who described their late father as a courageous and honest APRC loyalist especially during hard times, said President Jammeh is committed to truth and justice, adding that his style of leadership since he took over the mantle of leadership in this country from 1994 to date, did not encourage corruption in any way.
She added that the unity, stability and progress of this country are very dear to Professor Jammeh’s heart, thus stressing that the President has established a legacy of democratic freedom in the country.
“His modest lifestyle made him a popular leader throughout the country and he always promised to confront corruption and to deal with those who indulged in it and he is a leader who has integrity, trust, patriotism, and a positive experience to lead this country unto higher heights,” she concluded.
