The head coach of The Gambia U-20 team, Omar Sise, has expressed his intention to see that the side is maintained together despite Sunday’s failure to secure a place at the African Youth Championship.
Sise was speaking in an Observer Sports interview on Wednesday as the team returned home after a shambolic officiating by the Benin referee saw them crashed to a 2-1 defeat to Guinea in Conakry.
Sise, who was quick to add that the football authorities would maintain the team, reiterated his utmost disappointment at the manner in which the team was eliminated.
“During the game, the Guinean team scored and we equalised, which the referee ruled out, which was a goal. We scored again he ruled it out and it was like they don’t want us to win,” he told Observer Sports.
He finally congratulated his boys for the brilliant performance and hope they will continue to deliver as expected.
