A lady has been banned by the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court from making any phone calls to her former boyfriend. She was also told to refrain from threatening to blackmail or fabricating any untrue stories about the man.
Principal Magistrate Hilary Abeke on Thursday also called for peace to prevail between Haddy Garjo, alias Bobo and Modou Colley and ordered Haddy not to interfere in Modou and his Norwegian girlfriend’s privacy.
The presiding Magistrate made the verdict after Modou filed a civil suit against Haddy demanding for the court to ban her from calling him on his phone.
He also sought for the court to stop the girlfriend from threatening to blackmail him in an attempt to end his relationship with his Norwegian girlfriend and to stop interfering in his private life. An order to maintain peace between the two parties also came as requested from Modou.
Haddy had accepted Modou’s statement of claim which was read and interpreted to her in an open court in Wolof.
Magistrate Abeke said Haddy has accepted the suit without ambiguity and ordered her to refrain from making any phone call to Modou.
Haddy was also mandated by the court to strictly comply with the ruling and to swear to an affidavit undertaking to keep peace, failure of which the magistrate said, she shall be called upon to explain why she should not be sent to prison for five years.
