The people of the Central River Region (CRR) have expressed Gratitude to President Jammeh for the support he has been giving to farmers.
These remarks were made by the people on Tuesday during the presentation of farm equipment to the people of the Region at the Governor’s residence in Jangjanbureh. The equipment, donated by the Ministry of Agriculture, includes ploughing and processing machines.
Fatou Trawally, who spoke on behalf of the women, said CRR is grateful to President Jammeh. “He has fulfilled all the promises he gave us; this shows that he has a big heart for the women, particularly the farmers,” she said.
She said the donation of the farming equipment is a clear manifestation of the President’s visionary leadership in transforming the country to a food self-sufficient nation. “And we the people of CRR will continue to embrace his Vision 2016 initiative.”
The Chief of Upper Saloum, Malick Mbaye, hailed the President and the Ministry of Agriculture for the support. “President Jammeh is doing well in this country and the people of CRR will continue to rally behind him; we cannot pay him, he did everything for us,” he affirmed.
Mbaye expressed gratitude to the women of the region for their hard work and steadfastness in embracing Vision 2016. He added that the materials have come at the right time.
“What the President is doing in this country, no one can do it, and we [will continue to] give deaf ears to the opposition; in fact no one can move him an inch because he is the choice of the people. That Mama Kandeh, let him relax, he can’t move us an inch,” he stressed.
The Director General of the National Agricultural Research Institute (NARI), Ansumana Jarju, advised the farmers to take greater care of the materials. “You have vast land and now you have the materials but what is important is the sustainability of the materials since a lot of money was spent on purchasing them.”
Receiving the items on behalf of the people of CRR, Governor Alhaji Omar Khan thanked the President for boosting the farmers and assured the delegation that the materials would be properly utilised for the intended purpose.
Momodou Mbaye Jabang, Project Coordinator for both the Central Projects Coordinating Unit and The Gambia Commercial Agriculture and Value Chain Management Project (CPCU/GCAV), called for considerable efforts to embrace Vision 2016.
