Gambia Superpower Status is Already Achieved

The National Assembly Member for Upper Saloum, who also doubles as the APRC desk officer for Central River Region (CRR), has said that President Jammeh’s super power status he was calling for has already been achieved, considering the peace and stability in the country.

The Upper Saloum Lawmaker affirmed that there is no superpower status in the world than the existence of peace, stability and progress as the case for The Gambia under the leadership of President Jammeh.

Hon. Sainey Mbye was speaking in an interview with the Daily Observer on the sidelines of activities marking the 22nd anniversary of the July 22nd Revolution held last Friday at the Arch 22 in Banjul. The event was presided over by President of the Islamic Republic of The Gambia, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya AJJ Jammeh.

Hon. Mbaye maintained that the country’s peace and stability is the reason why people are coming to the country from developed countries across the globe, as those countries are beset with all types of crisis and untold human sufferings, characterised by terrorist and suicide attacks among other unacceptable inhumane behaviours.

This he added, made The Gambia one of the most peaceful and progressive countries throughout the globe. He therefore, urged all Gambians and non-Gambians alike to jealously guard the peace and stability in the country.

The CRR Lawmaker expressed hope that everything is achievable in The Gambia under the leadership of President Jammeh, provided everyone rendered him support to that effect.

He made reference to the ongoing V-2016 food self-sufficiency farming activities in CRR, where majority of the vision’s rice fields are situated.

According to him, CRR is one of the lucky regions in the country that has benefitted a lot from the July 22nd Revolution.

Hon Mbaye cited different vast expanses of rice fields in the region such as Jahali, Panchang, Janjangbureh among other rice growing communities within the region as testimonies that V-2016 is achievable.

Further on the July 22nd Revolution and its achievements, Hon. Mbaye did not hesitate to state that Gambians have a cause to celebrate the July 22nd Revolution as illustrated in the number of development projects initiated and implemented in the country over the past 22 years.

According to him, the AFPRC/APRC government has invested heavily in all sectors of the country’s development, especially in education as seen in the creation and establishment of the University of The Gambia with various faculties therein, establishment of The Gambia Law School, among others.

He stated that other sectors such as health and infrastructure also witnessed massive investment during this past 22 years.
