One of Gambia’s finest rap stars, Gee has stressed that he is tired of complaining on social media, noting that the time has come to take actions by returning to the trade that took him to stardom.
Gee was quick to add that he is also not coming back to the music scene just as an ordinary artiste but also as an entrepreneur to create platforms and avenues from which Gambian artistes could eat. “We’re not just entertainers, this is a job,” he said.
Gee made this disclosure during an exclusive interview with Observer Light as he is expected to host his first ever gig in over 18 months after disclosing early last year that he retired from music; a move that stunned his legion of fans and followers.
“If one of the country’s biggest artistes isn’t under any label that’s a problem. There exists lack of structuring, those in the position to make these things happen aren’t playing their roles right. I can go on and on about the problems dogging this industry. The bottom-line is I thought it was beyond repair,” he added.
Gee is coming back with a gig on the 23rd of July 2016 at Pencha Mi Hall at Paradise Suites Hotel, featuring a guest artiste from Senegal, DIP including other Gambian artistes.
“Only good could come out after working with DIP and inviting him over for my comeback event. So, therefore, music lovers, companies, etc., we have almost the entire Gambian music scene under one roof, come party and network,” he concluded.
