Kololi Central were on Friday crowned winners of the Manjai Super Cup after a 2-1 win over Marrimoe FC, in a game played at the Father Gough Mini-Stadium in Manjai Kunda.
Ousman Marong opened the scoring for Kololi Central after converting a penalty in just four minutes into the game. Marimoo FC cancelled this early Kololi Central goal in the 15th minute through Sainey Conteh’s fine finish. Kololi Central’s Ousman Joof scored the winner just before the break.
As winners, Kololi Central FC were awarded a giant trophy and a cash prize of D15, 000, while Marimoo FC pocketed a consolation prize of D10, 000.
Speaking in an interview with Observer Sports shortly after the final whistle, Omar Jobe, head coach of Kololi Central expressed delight for winning the final, noting that it was a good match, as both teams made a respectable performance.
According to him, this is their first ever trophy since joining the Manjai Nawettan three years ago and expressed hope that this victory would be the starting point of their success in the Manjai football Nawettan.
Sheikh Joof, head coach of Marimoo FC, was quite disappointed for losing the final to Kololi Central. He however indicated that they will take this defeat in good faith and work harder for the new season.
Momodou Lamin Darboe, Chairman of Manjai Sports Committee, expressed happiness for the successful completion of the Super Cup final. He said they are also very happy with the performance of both teams in the final.
According to him, as everything is set for the new Nawettan season, they are expecting all teams to continue to show maximum respect during and after the game.
