The alleged two counts criminal charges of kidnapping and abduction of a child against one Allan Jorung a Norwegian national, has been adjourned by Principal Magistrate Omar Cham of the Banjul Magistrates’ Court last week.

The case failed to proceed on the grounds that the presiding magistrate did not complete a ruling that would enable the case to proceed.

Mr. Jorung is alleged to have brought and unlawfully kept Carito Emilio Jimenez in The Gambia beyond 28th December 2015 out of custody of his mother, Sandra Vamille Jimenez, who has lawful care of him.

He is also alleged to have fraudulently withheld Carito Emilio Jimenez in The Gambia with intention to unlawfully deprive his mother Sandra Vamille Jimenez, who has lawful care of him.

Mr. Jorung has denied the allegations and the court granted him bail in the sum of D150, 000 with two Gambian sureties who must surrender their identity cards. The magistrate also ordered for the accused person to deposit his travel documents or in the alternative deposit D300, 000 cash to the court.

The case is adjourned to 19th September 2016
