The President of the Islamic Republic of The Gambia, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya AJJ Jammeh, Babili Mansa on Friday hosted a state banquet as part of celebrations marking the 22nd anniversary of the July 22nd Revolution at State House in Banjul.
The First Lady, Her Excellency Madam Zineb Yahya Jammeh graced the event, which was also attended by Cabinet Ministers, Diplomats, National Assembly Members, Security Chiefs, public and private sector officials, and a cross section of the Gambian society.
The banquet began with the National Anthem by The Gambia Police Band. The Army Band, Sedhiou Band, amongst other artistes entertained the people at the event.
Elsewhere, as part of events marking the Revolution, a July 22nd Reception was on Thursday evening held at the Kairaba Beach Hotel in Kololi.
The Gambian leader was represented by the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, Dr Fatou Lamin Faye.
The reception was also attended by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Abdoulie Bojang, National Assembly Members, Ministers, Regional Governors, Members of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps, and the Chief Justice of The Gambia, among others.
There were also traditional griots, who were supplying entertainment celebrating President Jammeh and his government’s giant development initiatives since 1994.
The Imam Ratib of Banjul, Alhaji Cherno Alieu Mass Kah and Fr Robert Patrick Ellison, Bishop of Banjul both prayed for Allah to continue blessing The Gambia with peace and tranquility.
