A high-powered delegation led by the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, Dr Fatou Lamin Faye, last week had a brief stop-over to inspect the ongoing works at the Sotuma Sire-Gambissara road in the Jimara District of the Upper River Region.
The delegation, which was on a nationwide tour to inaugurate projects as part of activities marking the 22nd anniversary of the July 22nd Revolution, was led to the site by the Governor of the Upper River Region, Alhaji Omar Sampo Ceesay.
The road construction is funded by The Gambia Government.
At the site, Minister Fatou Lamin Faye said she was impressed with the progress of the work (at the time) and hopes the road would be completed on time. “We hope and pray we return here for the inauguration,” she said during the brief visit.
Officials of the contractor, AREZKI, also expressed their happiness and delight over the progress of the works and affirmed their commitment to ensuring that the job would be completed on time.
